Great quality, sizing tricky

"Good quality and perfect for people with low-volume feet. However, the sizing can be tricky. With feet measuring 26. 8 cm barefoot, I had to go for a size 44 2/3 to have enough room in the toe box. For comparison, after trying several alternatives, I felt comfortable in the La Sportiva G2 Evo in size 43. 5 (although it has a higher-volume fit) and the Scarpa in size 44 (with a bit of heel lift, unfortunately; size 43 was too small, and they don't offer half sizes)."

Super comfortable for approaches and

"Super comfortable for approaches and warm for 6,000 meters. Good boot with good, outsourced parts make it a competitive contender vs scarpa and la sportiva"

Lightweight and comfy

"I really like this boot. It’s very warm, comfortable, and relatively lightweight. My one gripe with these boots is the build quality. There is a black mesh on the sole of the boot that was attached with adhesive to one boot, but not attached with anything on the other. This didn’t affect the performance of the boot as far as I could tell, but still caused some frustration as these things were not cheap. Overall would recommend this boot. It has been pretty bulletproof otherwise."

Nordwand 6000 High

"These arrived yesterday. As recommended, I went up a size and they fit absolutely perfectly. The BOA system seems solid and is easy to use. I took them around the city to test comfort and they were perfect. My only complaint is they may be too warm but better safe than sorry."

Light, Precise, and Warm at Altitude

"I’m a guide based in Argentina, and I started using the Mammut Nordwand 6000 High boots a week ago for the ice climbing season in Mendoza, at 11000ft, paired with automatic crampons. Right from the first day, they were incredibly comfortable, with no pressure points and no break-in needed. One of the things that impressed me the most was how lightweight they feel—lighter than the La Sportiva G2 Evo, which makes a real difference on long approaches and technical climbs. The BOA® Fit System is another highlight: it allows for fast and precise adjustments even with gloves on, which is perfect when conditions change mid-route. To get the level of stiffness needed for ice climbing, I had to tighten them well—but once dialed in, they offered excellent support and precision. Although I haven’t yet tested them in extreme cold, they already feel very warm, thanks to the removable liner, dual-insulated midsole, and abrasion-resistant materials. I’m looking forward to putting them to the test on Aconcagua during the 2025/2026 season. In short: a technical boot that’s lightweight yet rugged, built with premium materials, ideal for high-altitude mountaineering, ice, and mixed climbing. So far, I’m very happy with the purchase."

Great boots with a fatal design flaw

"These boots are amazing but for one absolutely fatal design flaw - the lateral BOA knob on the inner boot is directly underneath the relatively cheap zipper for the outer gaiter. This puts undue pressure on the zipper, which will eventually split or have damage to it's teeth - when this happens your boots are DONE. Mammut could not recommend a cobbler to me who could repair the boot, as the zipper is built into the gaiter in such a way that replacing it is nearly impossible. I found only one Cobbler who could do it, and it would cost $100USD/ boot plus shipping both ways to the USA from Canada. With no guarantee this wouldn't just happen again, I'm forced to retire these boots after very little use. Very disappointed such a premium boot has such a cheap flaw."

Unacceptable quality for Mammut

"Really warm boots, comfortable for mountaineering, easy and fast boa system. After 2 seasons they startet geting water. After inspection I found probles between hard parts and soft materials. Quality unacceptable!"

Q&A

So quite seriously, how do you put these on? When I use a thicker wool sock I literally cannot slide my foot in with the inner boot installed. I worry I am, going to tear the fabric. If I use a thinner more slippery synthetic liner sock I can slide them in, but then end up not being able to get them tight enough even with the boa. Same issue when I tried one size up, I could then get my foot in bthen could not get them tight enough. I really like the boot, but I cannot figure this out.
Hi, I think I would try to work with 2 pairs of socks to find out if the volume fits then. I think the problem is the wool. Try to get in the back with a plastic bag to minimize friction (old climbing shoe tip). Always enter slightly twisted, heel outwards (as with the ski boot). The shoe will adapt easily and the entry should be easier with time... - Barbara
