Schlechte Haltbarkeit

First impression did not convince …
"I’ve found a lot of different opinions on these shoes — here’s mine:
The Eiger Speed BOA High GTX is lightweight, well equipped with high-quality materials, and immediately stands out with its futuristic design.
I am not an extreme athlete and would have used this shoe for winter conditions, transitional seasons, rainy days, and general everyday use such as walks and light hikes — probably overkill, but that’s beside the point. Functionality is important to me — even in everyday life — but quality and longevity are even more so.
However, while trying the shoe on at a Mammut store, several issues stood out to me:
Heel slip:
Despite the BOA system, my heel noticeably slipped up and down with every step — even during a simple fitting. For a shoe in this category, especially one carrying the Eiger Extreme label, this is unacceptable.
Build quality:
The black-and-white colorway looks great overall, but unsightly yellowish glue residue is clearly visible on the white parts of the shoes. Wear marks over time are normal, but a premium product should not look sloppy right out of the box.
Price:
In my opinion, the asking price is not justified. € 350,- would already be the absolute upper limit, and realistically it should be significantly less, considering built quality and functional flaws.
Perhaps the shoe performs better in demanding alpine terrain. For my intended use and considering the price-to-performance ratio, however, it did not convince me."

From Doubt to Trust: My Journey with the Eiger Speed BOA® High GTX
"As a guide who frequently leads expeditions on peaks like Aconcagua, I need gear that performs consistently in demanding conditions. On these long approaches—often 15 to 20 km hikes up to high camps around 4300 meters—the terrain isn't always highly technical, but it does demand reliable traction, waterproofing, and overall comfort. This is exactly where the Eiger Speed BOA® High GTX Men boots have truly impressed me.
First and foremost, the integrated gaiter and GORE-TEX membrane are game changers. There are sections with river crossings and snow patches, and wearing trail runners or regular hiking shoes isn't ideal—they get soaked, clogged with dirt, and ultimately become a liability. In contrast, these boots keep my feet dry and clean. I’ve had painful experiences in the past with fine dust seeping through other GTX models from different brands, causing blisters between my toes. That simply hasn’t happened with these—the gaiter seals exceptionally well, and the boot construction keeps everything out.
Another big plus is the comfort. From day one, these felt great—no break-in period needed. I admit, the first time I put them on, it seemed a bit tricky to slide my foot in due to the sock-like inner boot, but once I figured out the technique, it’s actually as easy (if not easier) than putting on a regular shoe.
The BOA® Fit System is fast and convenient. Whether you're putting them on at 4am in a frozen base camp or taking them off after a 10-hour march, the ease of adjustment is something you come to deeply appreciate in the mountains. On top of that, the ability to attach semi-automatic crampons makes them incredibly versatile for mixed terrain. When I occasionally encounter icy sections or hard snow on the way to camp, this feature becomes invaluable.
I'll be honest—when I first saw the design, I wasn't sure what to think. It looked like a strange hybrid between a mountain boot and a futuristic runner. But once I had them in hand, I realized I was completely wrong. They’re actually beautifully balanced in design—sleek, modern, and purposeful.
In summary, I’m extremely happy with my purchase. After long days on the trail—10+ hours on my feet—these boots still feel comfortable, supportive, and reliable. For any serious mountain professional or high-altitude trekker, I’d wholeheartedly recommend the Eiger Speed BOA® High GTX Men. They deliver where it counts."
