Reviews

Light shovel with the capacity

"Light shovel with the capacity to move large quantities of snow. Fantastic for snowmobile and ski tour sports."

— Riley G. (5/5)

Great shovel/hoe

"The Mammut, Alugator Pro Light Hoe is a well-built snow shovel/hoe. This will be my second winter season using it. I'm a lift mechanic in Alaska, I used my shovel every day during the winter. Its light, and fits in my pack nice. I've pried harder with it than I ever should have, and it hasn't shown any signs of fatigue. If/when this one kicks the bucket, I'll be buying the same thing again."

— Jedidiah N. (5/5)

lightweight and heavy duty

"surprisingly lightweight for a solid shovel. great d handle, fast assembly, and straightforward how mode."

— Andrew D. (5/5)

Monster Workhorse!

"I don't use this much, and hopefully won't need it for real, but during avy training everyone wanted to use it for it's sturdiness and large capacity, and especially for the hoe feature which makes quick work of throwing snow downhill from your fellow rescuers diggin to the victim. Some people with smaller packs may prefer a slightly smaller shovel, but for pure effectiveness this one can't be beat."

— Dave B. (5/5)

Great Lightweight Shovel, High Durability

"This avy rescue shovel is very well built. It is easy to set up and use. The hoe mode works well and attachments are easy to figure out in a stressful situation. This shovel is bigger and heavier than some of the competitors. I bring this shovel out to play when we are building quinzee shelter for overnight trips in the backcountry. The beveled edge is effective when cutting through firmer snowpack and ice. While it’s not the lightest shovel ever, It still has its place and works great."

— John S. (5/5)

Good Shovel, Tough to Pack

"Well built shovel, but the D-style grip makes the handle to long to fit in my pack (which is not a small pack and has fit many other avy shovels). If you have a tall avy tool pocket in your pack I would recommend this shovel, but check that you have the size before committing."

— Tarn D. (4/5)

Light and robust

"Light and packs into av bag. Robust- it’s withstood a few falls and digs. As always mammoth produce high quality gear that you depend on when it comes to safety."

— Aaron E. (5/5)

Light and robust, very good shovel

"The shovel feels strong and the possibility to use it in hoe mode, combined with the "D" grip, makes it a very useful tool that will last for a long time. Compared to the Alugator Ride SE that I used before, it's bigger, the blade is about 4cm wider and 1cm longer, and the handle is longer as well, so before buying make sure it fits in your smaller backpack."

— Francesco (5/5)
