Reviews

Very solid airbag system

"This is a reliable option for backcountry avy protection. I like how this is compatible with multiple bags; I have the Dakine Poacher RAS Vest, and the Dakine Poacher RAS 36L Backpack. Both awesome bags, and with the Mammut 3. 0 airbag system they are even better. Note, you have to buy the air canister separately and have to fill it at a dive (I had the best luck here) or paintball shop - simple to do. It inflates quickly, seems well built, and gives me a little more peace of mind when touring. Obviously it isn't a substitute for good decision making, but it may increase your chances if the worst should happen. Flying with this does pose some challenges, but you can discharge it, fly to your location, and then get it filled locally pretty easily. I have recommended this to friends and will continue to do so."

Intuitive and light weight

"Easy to pack, compact light weight system, 5 stars!"

— Erin L. (5/5)

Heavy, but I like that

"Heavy, but I like that it can move from bag to bag so I only need one system."

— Trevor H. (4/5)

Easy to add or remove

"Easy to add or remove from my two bags that accept the system after the first couple of times. Haven't had to use it in a slide (and hopefully won't), but my test went great."

— Bennett P. (5/5)

need this in the backcountry

"must have if riding in avy zones"

— Chris S. (5/5)

So I haven't had to

"So I haven't had to employ the avalanche bag in the field yet, but it's design seems very simple and reliable. The included training tool is great for getting an idea of what it should feel like when you do need to employ it, without the inconvenience of have to repack the bag or refilling the canister. Overall it's a great safety item for the Backcountry and even in-bounds. Just remember that this is more of a seatbelt than anything else and does not replace a beacon."

Awesome product!!!

"Mammut provides quality products that can save and protect a skier/snowboarder at a moment’s notice. I have yet to use this product in any real time experience but I feel safe using it when it is readily available. I’m no expert yet in my sport but I am leaning and advancing my progress and this is a key feature that is needed for safety backcountry boarding. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to equip themselves with the safest and reliable equipment."

necessary when your bag didn't come with one.

"Its part of the system and is a necessary component that is easy to install."

— Patrick M. (5/5)

Safe bulletproof system

"I have been using this system for years and I feel confident enough with it. I don't want to rely on a power source, so I'd rather have a canister system. Plus, I have different bag from different companies with the RAS system so it is nice to swap bags depending on the days."

— Alex P. (5/5)

Easy Installation

"Compact airbag, easy installation. I have it installed in a Dakine Poacher 36L pack as my daily Ski Patrol pack. Change out a couple things and its ready as my day to day BC ski pack or my BC rescue pack."

Q&A

Does the RAS come with the cartridge? Or do I need to purchase separately? Thanks!
You have to purchase the cylinder seperately. Many thanks.
