Great light thermal mid layer
"Really great technical piece but is very specific based on needs. I run extremely hot. I usually wear a mid base layer with the Mammut Aenergy Light mid layer only. I can use this setup as low as 40 degrees if I keep moving. I usually do not wear a soft shell unless it’s windy or really cold. I purchased this jacket to be a warming midlayer or an outer layer over my usual setup. On my recent hike in Peru it was hot,cold,windy,snowy and had strong hailstorms. This jacket was perfect as a warming midlayer with a soft shell over it, also as a 2nd midlayer over the Aenergy Light with a softshell over it. As an outer layer it failed slightly because of the hybrid component, the wind cut right through it. This jacket is basically a beefed up warming light fleece. The warming panels are in the chest, shoulders and upper arms. Light fleece in the back, lower front, armpits and under the arms to the wrist. The amount of warmth in the light warming panels is basically incredible. If you want more warmth I would get the non hybrid form of this jacket. There were times I wish I had that form but for a person that runs really hot this is perfect. Besides that, the jacket looks great and fits like the usual Mammut jackets. Bought the black which was perfect in town for dinners and beer. 6’0” 183 large fits perfectly looser then the Aenergy light. Hope this helps."
