Incredibly Sturdy; Feature-Packed; but Weird Fit Quirks

"First of all, if you want a sturdy waterproof shell jacket to truly wear hard… this is it. As long as it fits you. Pros: Incredibly sturdy fabric — the heaviest shell I’ve encountered as a ski pro or outdoor photographer. Good pockets, for the most part - little mesh phone pocket in the chest is a little small. Great cuff velcro Pass pocket on sleeve Solid zips Cons: The fit is weird. A size small is made for someone over 6ft/183cm, but very skinny. I tried a medium too—it’s not much larger, but significantly longer. Because there’s no bottom zip, it’d be difficult for someone who’s any shorter to ski in. I make the small work, since for personal skiing I don’t need to dress that warm, but it’s a little tight. For a heavier or shorter guy, it’d end up as a dress. The collar is long, but pretty tight—I can barely zip it past my chin, but when I do, it goes up to my nose. The cuffs are very narrow, and I have smaller wrists. You may struggle to get them over a glove cuff, so gauntlet gloves are the better choice. Overall it’s a great jacket, and the sizing quirks aren’t uncommon among high-end European brands, just something to be aware of. Not all Mammut’s jackets are the same - I got another that is much better-fitting."

I found this jacket only

"I found this jacket only to realize the color and size I wanted was out of stock. I kept watching it and eventually, my size returned! I like it, and it's likely going to take some breaking in. The GORE TEX Pro Fabric is very thick and will hold up well, but is a bit stiff initially. I also initially picked up an Eiger Free Advanced HS Hooded Jacket as well and found that jacket to be much thinner (yet apparently not as breathable on paper) and, more annoyingly did not have any hadn't pockets. I really like the pockets and features of this Man Pro 2. 0 jacket - the walkie talkie clip lets me stay in touch with my son when we ski and the large right pocket just might fit my skins."

Bought it because I like my Mammut Patrol Jacket.

"I purchased the Mammut Ski Patrol Jacket at the beginning of the season. I Like it more then my Patagonia Ski Patrol Jacket. So much so that I purchased the Mtn. Pro 2. 0 3L GTX HS Hooded Jacket. I really Like the extra large zip pocket on the Right side of the front of the jacket, it fits skins perfectly. I do wish it had the same powder cuffs in the sleeves that the Patrol version has. Otherwise I am vvery happy with it so far."

Mtn Pro jacket checks all the boxes!

"Just back from a week-long heli ski trip at Crescent Spur BC where I wore my new Mtn Pro jacket every day. The jacket met all my needs: waterproof, windproof, comfortable, yellow color made me easy to see, and plenty of pockets needed for misc gear. Rugged and quality design. I am glad to have made this purchase."

Very nice jacket but…

"So far I’ve skied 3 days in this jacket and it has kept me dry during a wet snow day. Material seems tough and durable. Love all the features of this jacket but it’s missing a crucial one. For the price of this jacket Mammut needs to put a powder skirt in there."

Heavy Duty - High Quality

"This is a serious jacket with all of the details handled very well. Short of an unforeseen extreme issue- this jacket should last for generations. I’ve actually never purchased any ski item as well made as this coat from Mammut. I had never thought about spending this much on a shell until I saw so many of the professionals wearing Mammut gear while on a ski trip in Colorado this winter. Obviously, I’m very impressed with the company and with this item in particular. I did have to order a size up (L to XL for this coat) due to a tighter chest/arm cut. I’m 6’2 195-200lb and wear a 44R suit coat and 32/34 pants. The waist and sleeve length were fine on the large, but the armpit area was too tight for any layering other than a base layer. The material is extremely firm and it will take awhile to break it in and get it more comfortable. However, that’s not atypical for heavy duty outdoor gear, whether it be for hunting, skiing, backpacking, etc."

Love the vents for backcountry

"Great zip open vents for those steep skinning sessions"

A Great Ski Jacket… With One Unexpected Downside”

"I’m 6’1”, 182 lbs and bought a size Medium. The fit is true to size — athletic but not tight. The jacket feels well made, with solid materials and construction. It’s warm without being bulky, blocks wind well, and the pockets and zippers are thoughtfully placed. Overall, it performs exactly how a good ski jacket should. The problem is the hood. It’s enormous — like a 50-gallon trash bag. Even with my ski helmet on, the hood extends about 6 inches above it. It looks oversized and feels excessive. When it’s down, there’s a lot of extra material bunching up. When it’s up, it feels like I’m wearing a tent. I get that it’s designed to fit over a helmet, but this goes way beyond that. If the hood were detachable or just smaller, this would be a perfect jacket. Also, most skiers don’t ski in conditions that require this kind of storm hood. Helmets already provide coverage, and there’s no version of this jacket without a hood. That’s disappointing. It’s a shame, because without the oversized hood, this would easily be a 5-star jacket."

Tight around neck with hood

"I returned the jacket because I found it to tight in the neck area when wearing a neck gaiter. I’m 5’ 9” with a medium build. If that area of the jacket had more volume I would have kept the jacket."

My first harcore HS Jacket

"The specs show this product is the top level of HS. And it is. I like the style and the design."
