Tolle Jacke

"Tolle Jacke, nur sehr empfindlich! Direkt nach dem Kauf hatte ich irgendetwas an den Händen, und es war ein Fleck drauf. Als ich das mit Wasser reinigen wollte, war der ganze Bereich ein großer Wasserfleck. Ich hatte sogar vorher nachgefragt, ob man sie imprägnieren sollte. Man sagte Nein!

Warm, packable, and durable

"I love this jacket! The jacket is incredibly warm and fits perfectly allowing for free movement without letting the cold in. I have been using this jacket while climbing and hiking in Yosemite National Park this fall and have appreciated the warmth it has provided while sitting at belays or when taking a rest on a hike. It packs down very well into its own pocket which is a great feature in my opinion. Additionally the waterproofing is very effective which has been a life saver in the rainy conditions in Yosemite."

I received this product in exchange for my honest review

"Mammut gave me this free product to try and I was stoked with its performance. This Jacket is light, warm, and durable. Held up great on a shoulder season 13er summit. Packed down small to bring along for the higher elevation portion of the hike. Quite a bit of scrambling and class 3 climbing moves brushing up on jagged rocks. Wasn't worried about tearing or scratching. This is a great option for layering on alpine missions or any time you're looking for some worth you can count on."

Perfect packable and light autumn belay jacket or spring mountaineering insulating layer.

"I wore this jacket cleaning new sport routes at Vantage, WA. Hanging in the shade in November scraping off pigeon crap and loose rock would’ve been much worse without this jacket. It’s toasty, light, and still looks brand new after the beating I put on it. Packs down a bit bigger than a softball and weighs next to nothing. I’ll be bringing this jacket with me on all my PNW volcano climbs and backcountry tours that don’t warrant the big boi marshmallow parka. I ride the size line between L/XL and would’ve sized up in retrospect, I think with a mid layer or two my range of motion will be affected for anything overhead but you can’t win em all."

High-altitude Alpine Layering

"Weighs less than a pound, yet kept me warm above 5000m. The Pertex Quantum shell and 800 fill hydrophobic down make it ultra-light, wind-resistant, and reliable even in damp alpine air. Fit is true to size, roomy for a midlayer, with slightly snug arms I’ve come to like for their trim, active feel. The bottom-to-top zipper, climbing rope–inspired pulls, and packable design show Mammut’s attention to detail. I really dig the color and it’s visible in the mountains for easy identification. I’d choose this jacket for alpine missions where every gram counts. I’ve used it on casual hikes and dog walks in freezing temperatures in Alaska to high altitude mountaineering objectives in Ecuador and Peru up to 19,100 feet elevation. During my summit attempt on Ecuador’s tallest mountain, I wore this puffy as a midlayer essentially. I then added on top a windbreaker, hardshell, and eventually a summit parka due to the stormy and cold conditions until avalanche conditions ended our climb. When we got to a less stormy area, I assessed myself and the gear and we were covered in rime ice. My head and face had been protected adequately by the hood of the Mammut Broad Peak IN Hooded Jacket which fits well over a helmet and covers the lower face well. It is adequately warm, but I do expect it to be a little warmer, just by looking at the jacket and comparing it to jackets of similar weight and fill of other jackets. Mammut gave me this free product to try in exchange for my honest review."

The happy medium for those who care about both warmth and weight

"I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I've been testing this jacket in as many conditions as possible in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, and it quickly became my primary layering piece for the colder months. Thanks to the packability, I threw it in my pack from pretty much every adventure. It's been used to hike, climb, fly fish, trail run, and ski. Across the board, the Broad Peak exceeded expectations. Everything that I look for in a down jacket is found on this one. It's both light and warm thanks to the 800 fill down and light face fabric. It also cuts wind surprisingly well, and I found myself leaving my shell in my pack often. The face fabric is durable and repels water, and it's fit snug to the body for maximized heat retention. The tight cuffs and hood also help keep heat trapped, and the cinch at the waist allows for adjustability. The Broad Peak also seems to have a better range of motion in the shoulders than any other down jacket I've used. I really noticed this while climbing and fly fishing (where a poorly fitted jacket can make for an exhausting day). All of these features make this jacket a comfortable and practical piece for being out on super cold Colorado days. I would recommend the Broad Peak IN to anyone who needs warmth in a small, well designed package. In mountaineering and climbing applications, the low weight and pack size make a huge difference. With that said, it's a sharp looking jacket that I've also worn around town quite a lot. It's a great garment for any outdoor enthusiast in a cold region."

VERY warm climber puffy jacket

"Super awesome getting to test out this new Broad Peak IN Hooded Jacket from Mammut while working on some first ascents in north AZ. (yes it does get pretty cold up here, even though it's Arizona). Super functional jacket and VERY warm. As a climber, mountaineer, and guide, I love having the bottom zip so I can belay comfortably without snagging the jacket and without having to hike it up to my belly button, consequently losing essential warmth. Hood fits well with a helmet, but doesn't look weird without one. Besides being super warm and the bottom zipper, there weren't a lot of game-changing features that makes this stand out far beyond other similar jackets. But it does all the basics super well. And besides, you don't need extra bells and whistles. Other thoughts: YKK zippers- Best zippers out there. Just be careful not to snag the thin material. Since it's meant for active sports, it'd be nice to have some armpit vents. But if you get too hot, just unzip from the bottom up or top down to stay thermally regulated. Or just have a good baselayer for when climbing, then put this on while belaying. I LOVE the green color. Only concern is that in emergency situations, it's basically camouflage. It'd be great to have the option to buy in a wider range of earthy OR bright colors. Sleeve cuffs are perfect. Nice fit and don't annoy my wrists. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review."
