Mammut LOOPINSULATION

Hiking FW25 Scotland 052

Process

  • Collecting rope offcuts

Polyester-based rope offcuts from industrial rope production are gathered – materials that would otherwise be discarded.

Tangled colorful Mammut climbing ropes in various patterns and colors against a light background.
  • Transforming materials

These offcuts are then untangled into single strands which are brushed together and combined with recycled plastic.

Hands crafting a blue Mammut mountaineering jacket, featuring fabric and stuffing, with scissors and a ruler in the background.
  • Creating insulation

The end result is fluffy polyester sheet padding and cluster fill, which creates warming insulation for our jackets.

A person examining the inside padding of a quilted Mammut jacket on a table, with fluffy down stuffing visible.

Our next-level insulated jackets – made with Mammut LOOPINSULATION, a high-performing synthetic fill – are light enough to stash away on the uphill and warm and protective for when you’re enjoying the view or scrambling on the way down. You’ll feel cocooned in your own cozy space. It’s the ultimate breakfast-in-bed feeling: protected, comfortable, and completely at home with no walls and no roof needed.

Rime Pro Belay (Alpine, Winter)

"This is an excellent piece for a variety of situations. I needed a: - non bulky, winter jacket - somewhat packable, for alpine or backpack - not egregiously technical looking for public, dog walks, etc in WI - warm, windproof (reasonably so), tough exterior This took me to this jacket. This jacket I use in Large, and it weighs about 700g and packs to 6-7L. That's very reasonable given the burliness of the jacket. It has a lovely interior feel, and keeps me warm in very windy cold weather for low movement activities in Wisconsin in the winter. The fit is average, it isn't excessively loose. I'm 6', 205lb and broad and it fits quite well. XL would be too large, M would be too small. The hood is the only item that is a watch out. It's purely helmet compatible. For alpine work, it's great. But for day to day, it's a bit floppy and something to note. Mine is in black. I like it versus other belay type jackets because it doesn't look so technical, it looks relatively clean in black and I can take to a restaurant without looking too out of place."

"Super jacket, realy better than the previous model (especially the chest pocket zipper)"

Solid Technical Belay Jacket

"The Men’s Rime Pro Belay IN Hooded Jacket from Mammut is a warm, durable synthetic belay jacket built for cold alpine and ice climbing days. It performs well in damp conditions, fits comfortably over layers with a helmet-compatible hood, and has practical, harness-friendly pockets. While it’s slightly heavier and less packable than down alternatives, it’s a reliable, technical choice for climbers who prioritize warmth and function over ultralight weight."

great product!

"Extremely comfortable, easy to wear, practical, lightweight, insulates perfectly, it has become by far my best coat for harsher winters!"

Wunderbare Winterjacke

"Groß genug, um darunter ein Fleece oder einen Pulli zu tragen. Warm genug für Winterspaziergänge. Sehr angenehmes "Klima", weder zu warm noch zu kalt, kein Schwitzen. Sehr leicht, kein Vergleich zu einer Daunenjacke."

Great midweight synthetic belay jacket

"Really great midweight belay jacket for PNW conditions. I find the DAS light a little too light in colder conditions, but the Nuclei SV has way too much insulation most of the time. This replaces my DAS light but can work for much colder conditions. It also looks pretty decent for a trip into town unlike most belay jackets."

Long sleeves with awful cuff

"The jacket looked great online, but after only a few days of wear, the sleeves stretched out and now feel noticeably longer. The cuffs are practically nonexistent, with no structure to keep their shape, so the ends just hang awkwardly and make the jacket look unfinished. The hood is fine, though it would look better with a visor. Functionality overall is good, but the poor sleeve and cuff design really brings it down. I would return if it was not too late."
